Description-
  • "Best of" selection from the 2010 Summer Love tour by Garrison Keillor and the cast of A Prairie Home Companion.

Love springs eternal, as does the creativity of Garrison Keillor and the Prairie Home cast. This best-of collection from the 25-city 2010 Summer Love Tour is jam-packed with tender duets and ballads, poetry (Poe, Shakespeare, Anonymous), and stories of passion and marriage—not to mention GK's intermission walk through the audience for the sing-along of "Unchained Melody" and "Can't Help Falling in Love with You."

Never broadcast and therefore available for the first time on this collection, selections from the tour also include favorite Prairie Home Companion elements: Guy Noir, Dusty and Lefty, and the News from Lake Wobegon. Nickel Creek's Sara Watkins is on hand, as are sound-effects man Fred Newman and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band.

About the Author-
  • GARRISON KEILLOR is America's favorite storyteller. For more than 35 years, as the host of A Prairie Home Companion, he has captivated millions of listeners with his weekly News from Lake Wobegon monologues. A Prairie Home Companion is heard on hundreds of public radio stations, as well as America One, the Armed Forces Networks, Sirius Satellite Radio, and via a live audio webcast.

Keillor is also the author of several books and a frequent contributor to national publications including Time, The New Yorker, and National Geographic, in addition to writing his own syndicated column. He has been awarded a National Humanities Medal from the National Endowment of the Humanities. When not touring, he resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Reviews-
  • AudioFile Magazine Prairie Home Companion fans, rejoice. A new collection of Garrison Keillor ballads, duets, poetry, and tales is now available to you. However, if you're anticipating satisfying yarns, you may be disappointed by this mostly musical collection. The best performances from the summer tour of 2010 highlight Nickel Creek's Sara Watkins, the hilarious sound effects of Fred Newman, and Guy's All-Star Shoe Band. Keillor's firm, distinctive baritone renders the intermittent stories with his hallmark passion, salient emphasis, and gentle sensitivity. He describes human experience from the heart. Sound quality and volume occasionally waiver, but when the content is as humorous and meaningful as this, a few quirks don't hinder the listening enjoyment. A.W. (c) AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine
